Leather
Working as Director of Content Creation for Evolved By Nature to transform how leather is photographed, filmed, documented, and presented to B2B buyers across global markets. The goal was to create an accurate, repeatable, and scalable imaging system that captured the true tactile qualities of leather delivering digital visuals that look and feel as authentic as holding the hide in hand.
Approach
Working directly with Evolved By Nature’s leather scientists, I developed a complete content pipeline grounded in both creativity and material science.
Scientific Training
I underwent hands on education from leather chemists and technicians, learning:
How hides behave under tension
How moisture, finish, and temper affect visual appearance
How to manipulate lighting to reveal grain and structure
Testing methods used in tanning labs
This training became the backbone of the imaging workflow.
Creative Direction Story Development
Using editorial and industrial storytelling techniques, I built a visual language for the brand:
Storyboards
Shot lists
Art direction for both photographic and video components
Visual identities for product families
AI-assisted previsualization to plan difficult lighting setups
Challenge
Leather is a highly variable natural material. Traditional product photography often fails to communicate:
Grain detail
Temper and drape
Stretch and recovery
Finish characteristics
Sheen changes under different light
Natural imperfections
Color accuracy across batches
Additionally, the business required:
High-volume production for hundreds of articles
A digital system for organizing, naming, and uploading thousands of assets
Imaging suitable for web, B2B platforms, and sales presentations
Scientific consistency across shoots
Creating a system that could scale to this volume without losing accuracy required an approach that blended creative direction, scientific training, and advanced imaging techniques.
Scalable Asset Delivery System
A naming convention that could handle hundreds of SKUs
Batch processing for web and B2B formats
Image stacks for internal R&D
Visual libraries for the sales team
A digital archive that could be expanded indefinitely
This system enabled teams across the company to quickly access high quality visuals for presentations, pitches, websites, and global B2B clients.
Results
A fully scalable imaging pipeline that supports hundreds of leather articles
A digital library enabling buyers to see and understand leather as if holding it in person
Consistent scientific accuracy across every material
Dramatically increased internal efficiency for content delivery
Elevated brand storytelling and professional presentation for B2B customers
An asset system that continues to support new product development, sales conversations, and future digital catalog expansions
Impact
This project expanded far beyond studio production. I traveled to Italy and Thailand to film and direct a series of documentary style stories inside some of the world’s leading tanneries capturing sustainable processes, worker craftsmanship, and the future of clean chemical alternatives. These films became foundational assets for Evolved By Nature’s global messaging around transparency, responsibility, and material innovation.
The content helped position the company as a leader in the sustainable leather space, supported B2B education, and elevated the brand’s profile across international markets. Several campaign assets, including the “Unseasonal Bouquets” film and related visuals, earned industry recognition winning awards such as:
Bronze Pencil - Unseasonal Bouquets
Gold - B2B Single
Silver - B2B Campaign
Silver - Ecommerce Website
In-House Agency of the Year
These global stories, paired with the scientific accuracy of the leather imaging system, became part of a unified content engine allowing Evolved By Nature to tell a complete narrative: from laboratory breakthroughs and tannery partnerships to final product photography ready for commercial buyers.
